-this is kind of off-topic, but my ram before it shifts at 45mph builds up 6k rpm (thats whenI floor it)...does this happen to any1 else?
- also i am getting about 13mpg.....is this average? my ram (all 05 V6 do) is the 3.7 magnum

1st. yes these engines do rev high, thats where they make all their power.
2nd. with a heavy foot. yeah thats right i guess. i get about 16.

as far as upgrades. intake and exhaust.
i bought a chrome intake on ebay. i shortened and its a real short ram now. lol
i also make up my own side exit exhaust system myself using a dynomax super turbo muffler and a 90 degree bend. has a good V6 performance sound, especially when your revving high.

thx bro.....on the intake.....i was lookn on ebay and they are all different prics/say they do different things. I went to autozone and he said that a intake was like $250......kinda pricey for my budget.....could you possible link me to one that is similar to the one you bought on ebay...?

also i asked the autozone guy and he told me i could double my mpg w/ a power programmer/intake/better exhaust?....any1 have thoughts on this?

double your mpg. no way. ever. seriously. granted if you get these upgrades and keep your foot out of the power (only 65 on the highway ) you can get an improvement.

this is what i originally bought.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...spagenameZWDVW

you will feel improvement but a cai is a waste on these trucks!! in my opinion. i simply cut it and now its about a foot long and it was a big improvement over the long cold air intake. also this has no protection against water going being sucked into your engine which happened to me once so thats why i cut it way down. also i paid more for the k & N filter that comes with it and it really isnt that great.

if i could do it again, i would just get the expensive K & N intake. but you mentioned you were tight on cheese, so.....

this would probably do you fine..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-01...ayphotohosting

if you want you could go to pep boys and buy yourself a K & N if you wanted to but youd probably be okay with what they give you.

remember, you get what you pay for. i learned it the hard way. i paid 100 bucks for an intake and i ended up having something that would have cost me 20- 40. these dont have brackets or anything so they kinda just sit on top of your engine. like i said if i could do it over i would probably just get the $250 K & N.

hey you need any more help, let me know im feelin good about given you info right now. lol

Hey man, welcome to the forum. Why did you put your height in the post, ha ha. Its not a dating website.

As far as acceleration, its a v6... so you cant really ask for much. As is, the 3.7 has a good amount of GO, thats for sure. But if you really want to go fast, get a v8, or a charger or something, ha ha. But if you just plain like your v6, there are a lot of mods to make.

~Some sort of cold air intake (about 5-10hp) ~A powerwire (8-10hp) ~ A chip ~ Bigger Gears ~Less weight

Oh yeah, they all shift at 6k, I know, at first i was like does it ever stop?! But it does, just really high.... Yeah the MPG isnt great, but better than any other truck that looks as SEXY. If you want better MPG you can get a bed cover. That cold air and such will help with that too. So yeah... good luck with your truck. Welcome!

Hey just so you know, the v6's are awesome trucks...but you can only do so much...They arent really ever gonna be much of a racer type vehicle...however, I can't complain at all. My v6 has never had problems and yeah...4.00 a gallon for gas is a ***** but, I feel a lot safer in my truck. In terms of upgrades, I've done quite a bit to my truck....Flowmaster Super 40 series SIDO exhaust, Trueflow XDI intake, 4.56 gears with detroit tru trac, Jet Chip stage 1, Rancho RS9000XL shocks, a Rough Country 3" Spindle lift, and Bridgestone A/T Dueler REVO 33" tires on American Racing Vector Rims. There is a lot out there..KRC makes some great stuff too...as I'm looking into gettinga new camshaft. Another thing to consider is a new throttle body, and an electric fan.

good deal...to make this truck look even beefier..you can always add a lift...whether it be a body or suspension
