Default Changing The Fluids

Ok, so this weekend im going to be cahnging out my transmission fluid and filters. Also my engine oil and oil filter. and while im at it ill probably do my differential.

so to start....i have an 02' with 90,000 miles on it. what weight oil would you use?

2nd.....what fluid do i need for my transmission....i couldnt find any Royal Purple for automatic trans...just manual, so id probally get penzoil unless someone tells me different.

3rd my differential....what weight was it exactly? 75W-90 or was it 75W-140............i have a 2wd so only the rear.

engine oil and differential will be royal purple and the oil filter will be a mobil 1. not sure what to do with the tranny like what filters and what fluid to use.

thanks

CHECK YOUR MANUAL !!! Can't stress that enough. I would use RP5w30 in engine-75/90 in differential-and ATF+4 in transmission. Even if it calls for ATF+3, ATF+4 is a better lubricant and can be used but NOT the other way around. You may have 2 filters in trans. A long flat one and a spin on one. Our 04 did. Hope this helps.

thanks daytona. i guess ill just have to buy the transmission fluid from royal purple elsewhere because my shop doesnt sell it for some reason.

and tractor......if i had a fu*kin manual i would use it but i dont have one!

you still think use 5w-30 with that many miles on it? i thought it was 75/140 for the rear differential...

haha.....i dont have to worry about the price. i just need the right stuff. all my fluid necesities are FREE.

ive hear that chrysler 9.25 axle recomends 75/140 for the rear....you guys tell me 75/90

and i thought id need something thicker than 5w-30 for motor oil.

where i got the 75/90 was from that RP link i gave...75/140 was also a option..that link is an actual dodge dealer

and as for engine the factory says 5w-20..remember lighter in hot weather, heavier in cold weather...i personally run mobil-15w-10 all year though

Rear diff fluid is 75w-140 in the '03s The 02 is probably the same. ATF+4 for the tranny. The two-filter transmission is only for '03 and up, I think. That's the 45FRE or the 545FRE transmission. 5w-20 oil is for the MDS engines. My '03 calls for either 5w- or 10w-30, depending on how hot the weather may be. 5w for cooler climes, 10w for temps in the 100s.
