To my understanding, a Wheel Adapter/Spacer like this one

Will make the whole rim and tire stick out one-and a quarter inch out from what it is now...With no spacer.

All I want to do is get a good - heavy duty spacer (for towing also) and get rid of the tire rub against the upper front A-arm...

 

like i said, depends how much they rub. i have 12" wide tires and they are pretty close to rubbing at full turn, so im pretty sure a 12.5" wide tire will rub, just barely though..so a 1/4" spacer will be perfect. it just depends on how bad it rubs.

yes thats what the spacer looks like with the new lugs. a spacer i was thinking of...the 1/4" is just a metal plat thats a 1/4" think with holes for your exsisting lugs to go through. and your done. just make sure all the lugs are tight and check the periodically to make sure everything is safe

I think I might go with an inch if I can find it or maybe a 1.25" spacer just to be sure I get no more tire rub...

Gonna call 4Wheel Parts tomorrow to see what they recommend...Who know's I might only have to go 1/4" to clear...

 

no problem. maybe get out of your truck, have someone turn the wheel all the way to one side and another and see just how much it rubs. IMO id try to keep the spacer as small as possible, but thats just me.

 

I have 35x12.5x20s and used a 1/4" spacer and it seems to clear the upper arm fine now. When moving slow and in a hard turn (coming out of my drive way in reverse) I used to feel a vibration that felt exactly like the nubs on the outside edge of the tire rubbing on that arm. Now with the 1/4" spacer I no longer feel it. My guesstimation is that the extra 1/4 inch was enough to clear those nubs from the arm. Now I'm not saying that spacers are perfect, I know they have some bad qualities too, but it fixed my problem and I don't think they will stress my studs to the point of breaking at only a 1/4". 1/2" and I'd be worried.

 

thats what im saying.i dont think such a minor amount would cause a problem to your studs.

 

No more tire rub!!!

1/4" spacers did the job! Had them installed on all four wheels and you can't even tell!!!
