Shock replacement
I was wondering' at haw many miles you guys replace your stock shocks. I was looking at some Bilstein HD Shocks on tire rack. Are these any good? any Suggestions? My dad has Rancho RS9000 that is 8 or 9 way adjustable on blazer and he likes them.
Oh yeah, i was also looking for somthing that won't raise it too much, another inch higher, and it won't fit in the garage. I want it to be the same height, mabey a little higher, it can't be lower, I hate the look of lowered trucks.

I don't use a mileage yardstick. I just bounce on the bumpers every so often to make sure they're OK. The shocks on all my Dodges have been the originals. I "got some air" over a nearby rail crossing a couple of weeks ago just to be sure. These shocks are approaching 96K and they're still tight. The flip side of that is my F-150 needed front shocks at about 70K, and my Chevy 1500 needed new ones at around 40K.

Anyway, there's two brands of shocks I'd put on my truck, Bilstein's or Rancho's, period...

ya but the shocks keep the springs a little more compressed, because i pulled out my shocks and drove around a bit and it was higher because the shocks hold the control arms closer. so a longer shock would mean that it wont be all the way stretched and will give the truck a little more height.
If the shock keeps the spring compressed, then the shock is fully extended all the time. The wheel would not be able to drop into a pothole or other depression without taking the whole truck with it. The shocks only dampen wheel movement.
