Leveling kit ?
I have a 2005 Ram 2500 4 x 4 and I want to put a leveling kit on it. I have read several posts on here and the info was very useful. My question is what is the benefit to changing my shocks with the leveling kit and is it necessary?

Changing your shocks is not neccesary. I just added a kit to mine and did not change mine. 2" doesnt make to much of a difference with your front shocks. I plan on changing mine when i add the 3" body lift. So that way i dont have to change it twice. And the benefit would be you could buy some Rancho 9000 shocks and you'd have a better ride then the stock ones...
the body lift doesnt do anything to your suspension...you dont need longer shocks for a body lift, however i have found that you DO need shocks for a leveling kit, because this does lengthen your suspension and instead of having your shock over extending, a longer shock will fix that. ya theres some that got away with not replacing the shocks, but most have found its crucial such as myself. i have yet to get new shocks since im in the process of trying to save money, but i NEED longer shocks. because it catches air and bumps are rough. if your leveling kit has shock relocators, then you dont need new one, but if it doesnt, then see how it rides and go from there. mine rides like **** so like i said, i need new ones, but im getting the rancho 5000's
Thanks, I want to go a little bigger on the tires after the leveling kit. I currently have 285 70r 17. How much bigger do you think I could go without causing problems? I was thinking305 or 315 perhaps.
I put a leveling kit on my 04 2500 that I used to own and I DID put the new shocks on the front just to make sure that they did not bottom out, just personal preference, they are not required. 305's for sure, I am not sure if the 315's will fit.

I've got a set of Superlift leveling springs and shocks for a 2500 Hemi. I have them because there was a mixup when I ordered them, I ordered the kit for a diesel but they sent me the wrong ones. When I called Superlift they just sent me new springs and whenI asked what todo with the Hemi springs and they said to "do what you want" with them. I got them from Superlift's scratch and dent store but I have never used them, they look new. Sooooooo send me a PM and I'll sendsomepictures.I was getting ready to put them on craigslist/ebay/classifieds. The spring part numbers are (drivers side) 01-243 and (passengers side) 02-243 at 20 ¾" and 20 ½" tall.
