I just read an article in trucking saying that most hemis are only averaging 240-250 to the wheels. That seems like a pretty substantial loss of power through the running gear. Whats your guys take?
Been common knowledge since day one. It's long been known that we have one of the worst systems for getting power from the engine to the rear wheels. I've seen dyno's on stock Hemi's ranging from the upper 230's to upper 240's RWHP.
my take on it is its true...I have atleast $2,000 in engine mods and at the wheels im still about 30 hp under the the 345-350 the factory claims. at the crank im prolly right around 405 hp
Gm and ford loss a lot of H/P from the fly wheal to the drive wheals as well, Automatics suck power, and facter in the hemi, 5.3 and the 5.43v are powering large bricks h/p loss is going to happen.
gas powerd trucks are not efficent users of h/p when compared to a car.
Thiers no comparing the performance of a 5.7 in a charger, vers a hemi in a Ram and by no means is a hemi powerd Ram slow.
