yea buddy you misunderstood that. the 5.9 had no emissions control. no egr, no dpf. hell you could take off the cat and straight pipe it.

 

I have a buddy who traded in his '01 5.9 Diesel for a '07 6.7L and he says ifhe doesn't seebetter mileage soon he's thinking of going back to gas. I believe the 5.9 was still available in '07 at least forthe first half of the model yearand I think he wishes he got one with the 5.9 now.

i was reading in the news that the differential in cost for a diesel vs. gas is like 100,000 dollars to 60,000 dollars over two years. maintenance and all included.

 

Doesnt matter on the motor, 5.9 or 6.7 if its an 07. The emissions crap forced on them are a big part of crappy milage and lack of power. If you can even find higher sulfur content fuel and try running it in an 07 diesel, you will ruin the motor.

 

Just for the record, try building under an ST model and you will find the SPORT package along with the other packages. It is still on the website.

the only motors that are diesel to have the emissions are the 6.7L. the 5.9L was removed from production at the beginning of 2007. on january 1,2008 no longer were 5.9L diesels put into trucks. It was all 6.7L. the 6.7L is a great engine but do to emissions restricitons mileage and power are not that great. power is the same as the 5.9L but with almost 1.0L more displacement you can see how the emissions sux power.
