Trans question
Driving on the sand last weekend and got stuck a little. Instead if airing down the tires I tried to drive out of it. Anyway, the trans light goes on and fluid starts coming out of the fill tube. I put in in neutral and keep the rmps up until the light goes out, air down the tires and I'm on my way. Did I do any damage to the trans? Is the fluid in need of repalcement?
Smell it. Overheated tranny fluid actually has a burnt smell to it, plus the color won't look like it did when new. If it looks like new fluid looks and smells like new fluid smells, don't worry about it...

first off you shouldn't need to air down the tires, well unless its 2wd and then again why buy a 2wd truck if you plan on going off road. I go down 45-60 miles if beach where the the first 2 miles is for any veh then its posted 4wd only. Never had any issues.
So how long and how hard were you reving the engine (rpms) to overheat the engine.

Did you lease or did you buy? If you are just leasing it, don't waste your time.

If you have the lifetime powertrain warranty, I wouldn't worry about it.

just because they have committed to fixing it or it will soon be someone elses problem is no reason to go out of your way to break something or avoid maintenance, guys like you are the reason it's so risky to purchase from the used market.....do you roll your mileage back on your lease turn ins too?[:'(][:@]
