About my MegaCab Milage....Again.....
So knowbody (almost)believes the kind of milage I get in my Mega Cab. Well I've got a new situation I'd like to get some guess' on.
I just made a 180 mile one way trip with a load of lumber and concrete. I had 1000lbs of concrete in the cab and God knows how much wood in the bed, pictures below. What kind of milage do you suppose I got? Middle of Wyoming, half flat, half pretty hilly. Trucks an '06 1500 Hemi running 87 octane. My wife and I were both in the truck, about 400 pounds there.
Make your best guess and I'll post my actual milage (from the pump 1 mile from the lumber yard, to the pump 1 mile from my house) after a few days.
A buddy of mile with a diesel saw it and said with that kind of load he'd get around 15 with his old ford f250. (just a guess of course)

RE: About my MegaCab Milage....Again.....
I am about to have to do the same thing(build new fence)... anyway.
as long as you keep it below 65 your trip computer(which is always at least 1mpg off) probly said you got 19-20 for awhile, or at least till you turned off the truck and then started driving it in town again and then it will go down rapidly. As for what your really got after a complete fill-up, its going to vary slightly also seeing that you could stop the pump after the first time it shuts off and call it quits. Or you could stand there and squeeze out another almost 2 gallons until the fuels pouring out of the neck. In reality I would say that since you have a 3/4 ton mega and if you didnt have to go up or down too many steep hills and you set it on cruise straight onto the freeway and all the way to your house with the load, you got 17-18.
I can achieve a true 20mpg in my single cab with the HEMI if I set it on cruise at 65. Thats going to and coming back from Austin(from Dallas) and there are hills and flat spots and usually some dumbasses that make me turn the cruise on/off. But for every 5 mph faster that I go I loose 1-2mpg and since you pretty much have to go at least 70-75 on 35 or your *** will get run over by even the mexican bus lines, I usually get about 17 and I also have a bed cover. I am sure that if I drove out to west tx and back where it is pretty much nothing but ultra flat roads, at 65mph, then I think I could get better than 21mpg. But damn 65 is SOOO slow and totally sucks when everybody(even the old people in their Buicks) are passing you by... kinda makes you feel like your never gonna get there.
And yeh the poll thing still doesnt work.

I can't wait any longer
A couple of you are dead on, and I was going 65 (didn't want to give that away right off.) My trip computer is always accurate to within 1mpg, as long as I only reset it at fill up. Trip computer said 18.3. Pen and paper said 17.586. And I have gotten 20-21 empty going 65 as well.
I was just stunned it was that good with such a large load, the rear is dipping a good 2-3 inches! Guess diesels aren't that important for hauling this type of load huh? The only problem I had was a slight bit of body roll from the wind that I wouldn't have normally had. And it road smoother of course There was also three or four times I had to slow to 30-45 so it wasn't just straight 65 the whole way, if it were, probably woulda got 19.

Almost 20 mpg's in a megacab - - HA HA HA HA HA, I don't think so guys. I can't get 20 mpg's empty, my best was 18 mpg's, empty and cruising at 65 mph.
Your best mileage was probably around 12-13 mpg's in the 60 mph range.

weight doesn't really affect highway mpg much if it's all flat. just a little more drag on bearings and rolling resistance from tires. kills your city mpg though. plus, with all htat weight his truck is sitting lower, decreases drag, might be making back all the loss.
i did a 200 mile run each way up to michigan last week with 1000-1200#s of stuff, twice. got 17.5-18 both times in my quad cab, was well over 65 the whole time. the unloaded half of each trip didn't change mpg. and i use 87
