I agree...ditch the air hat (resonator)...that is a bottleneck to cai's...you can take it out an use a pvc elbow in it's place to get the full affect of your cai...

This may be a stupid question but Ill ask it anyways. What good does it do to install an AIRRAID MIT?? What gains do you get by it etc etc. Any info on this would be great.

It eliminates the restrictive silencer just in front of the TB. The stock airbox is fine with a high-flow filter.

You can always sellthe Volantalong with that spacer (doesn't do anything on a dry manifold setup)on ebay or craigslist...there's always some poor soul out there that'll buy it.

Is there any reason for a high performance filter if I am not going with a CAI, besides the cost savings over time? That article that someone posted showed that there wasn't much of a difference between them all. I am leaning towards getting the Amsoil filter though.

Ha. No, hes not. Actually, hes trying to find someone who is. The closest Amsoil dealer to his house is 30 miles away. I think Severe just likes their products, as do many others. Not everyoneadvocating the Flowmasters, Magnaflows, Superchips, Nittos, etc are dealers of those either. Everyone has their personal opinions and favorites.

Ray, I think that anyway you can improve how the engine breathes is a good thing. Whether or not you have a CAI is pretty irrelevant. Not sure if you saw my previous post, but I decided not to buy a CAI to save the money and just went with an Airaid Modular Intake Tube to at least get rid of the silencer in the "Hemi Hat" and promote better airflow through a straight-flowing tube, rather than the accordion. I also bought the Amsoil EAA filter because I feel it is worth it, especially for the 4 year/100,000 mile warranty on it. Figured it is at least better than paper.
