I would think that the Vararam is better because it gets even cooler air from the front of the truck just above the bumper.

...the ramhammer and vararam are virtually the same price...they are both excellent cai's...some guys have used both and everyone that I've known to use both have always gone with the ramhammer... the 2 fastest stock block na qc's both have the vararam, the 3rd has the ramhammer (that would be me...hehe). But the main reason guys have switched was due to the better low end throttle response of the ramhammer...it was an obvious difference (as told to me my the users of both cai's). Now another factor to consider it, due to the location of the vararam intake tubes...some guys have hydrolocked their hemi's an blowin them up because of water sucked up into the tubes...

Yup..that was a very simple homemade setup...I used 4" pvc throughout with a 90 degree elbow on one end and a 22 degree on the other....also used 4" to 3" rubber connectors on both ends to get it to fit...

You shouldn't drive in water over the front bumper anyway. This would get water in the stock airbox.

My Mustang draws in air from a scoop under the front valance and has never hydrolocked. I have found a few cigarette butts and large leaves in the filter housing though

I need to take some more pictures out of the shadows. I almost looks brown at night. It has a pearl base to it.

my 2 cents - I don't have a CAI but I do have the Superchips - not worth it unless you tow a lot maybe - all I use is the tire size and for $400 not worth it...
