There are $50 options that are one piece, include all the fittings, and actually pull air from behind the headlight.

You don't need a $300+ intake for performance but you don't want to go $25 either.

I didn't see a hookup for the breather hose either.

Personally I think you should get an oil breather filter if you get a CAI. My CAI was pulling oil all the way up to the intake through the breather hose. I have since capped it and put a seperate filter on the breather.

ORIGINAL: z3r0

technically that is a WAI (warm air intake)
Yes you're right the placement of that one is bad, however there are ones that put the filter in front of the passenger front wheel, which don't require a heat shield.

Mine works pretty well, according to my Edge Programmer my Intake Air Temp is usually within 1-2 degrees of the Ambiant Air Temp... Mine's just a $50 eBay job:

Again, I have since gotten rid of the oil breather hose...

Yeah, it will eliminates the oil vapors from entering the intake, even though, the PCV valve is supposed to be sucking the vapors the other way.

Give it a try. If it's no good, you're only out $50. I think the twin filter looks sweet but I doubt you would get any real performance or economy gain because it would be taking in hot air. At least you guys can find that stuff for your trucks. Mine is a 2002 with the 5.9 gas V8 (the only year for that set-up with the current body style) and everything on the after-market is either for hemis or the 4.7.

this is how you change a "hot-air" intake to a true cold air with ram effect for about $15 using crap from Home Depot. Thats about a total of $50 with the same cheapo Ebay intake that I also have. Why you would want to spend more is beyond me since what I have does the same and better than some of the intakes I have seen people buy on here for 3-4 times as much. I guess they just like to waste money.

largetony,,,k&n does make a cai for your truck. i have it. cannt think of the part# though. and just so you know i think it was a waste of money. just get a drop in.(which i already had). i really never felt any gains with the cai. if you really want one though look on ebay, thats where i found mine for the cheapest price. i just keep hoping when i do my exhaust i feel some good gains. just cannt decide on exhaust or rims&tires.[sm=smiley19.gif]
