Mileage Tips and Tricks
So after reading through alot of posts on here, the most common issue is mileage and why people are geting such bad mileage in their trucks. As a lot of you know, there are some tips and tricks you can use to help you get better mileage out of your tank of gas. So lets hear them. Everyone post you gas saving tips for your truck and lets see if we can get a good helpful list together for those in need of answers to why they are only getting 8-10mpg when everyone else with the same truck is getting 15-20mpg.
I'll start with a few helpfull tips/tricks that I know of:
Tires are a BIG MPG Factor.. Make sure they are filled properly (the closer to the max pressure the more mileage you get but you also get the most wear and tear too..). If you are just driving around with big *** mud tires your mileage will not be as good as if you had a lighter street tire.
Air filter - make sure its clean, might want to invest in a reusable one that allows more air to pass through. Personally I haven't had much luck woth the drop in filters and have seen better results with a higher flowing CAI.
Oil - make sure you keep up on it, may want to switch to a synthetic. also make sure all your fluids are clean and up to date on changes too.
Driver habit - This can make a huge difference, keep you foot out of it, dont floor it at every stop light you come to (unless your putting some dip ricer in its place) and you should see some clear results
Upgrades - a catback exhaust, headers, gears and a new intake can help dramatically.
Programers - Good for a 1-2mpg differenceon there own, most work best with an upgraded exhaust and intake to completely take advantage of what they can do.
Remove any excess weight - taking your tailgate off and replacing it with a netted one can increase mileage by a few mpgs. Just removing your tailgate will give you roughly the same mileage effect as adding a tonneau cover, and keeping it down can actually give you worse mileage than leaving it up.
Well thats about all I can think of for now but please add to the list if you can think of anything I missed or anything that you may do differently.

When it comes to my truck, I've tried a ton of stuff. I've used 89 grade fuel since day one, and although the cost is a little more, the Hemi just seems to run smoother with it.
I also noticed a difference in MPG just from switching to full synthetic oil. I am not going to name names, but stick with a good name brand, and you'll see a difference.
I also gained MPG's when I replaced all the drivetrain fluids with full syn too. The Diffs, The Transfer case and the Tranny. All new.
Spark plugs! all 16 of them get changed every 35-50,000km's. I still use the stock champs, if you want to be surprised, look at the gap on your plug at 50,000km's, they start getting quite big.....
I could go on, but instead I'll reiterate.....Change those fluids. Full Synthetic WORKS!
