Default small tranny leak, warranty????

i was doing an oil change today and noticed a few drops of tranny fluid on the bell housing, i'm assuming it is leaking from the input shaft seal. i checked my driveway and there isn't any puddle but it is at a bit of an angle. i checked the level and it was a bit below the hot mark but not by much, it only took ~ 1/4 quart to top it up.

my question is before i bother calling the stealership, do you guys think this should be covered under warranty??? i do, but really dread the thought of taking it in and having to feud with them and fight to get a loner.

its a 07, about a year and a quarter into the warranty.

thanks for any advice.

The leak should be covered under the warranty. But good luck on the loaner. Dealers are not required to provide loaner vehicles.

Yea good luck with the loaner...I got a free rental a few times but that was when I brought it in within a month of buying it.

And it should still be covered like Parts/Service said...especailly if you're still under the bumper-to-bumper.

I had a similar tranny leak .. it was covered under warranty. They replaced the front pump, front seal, & the front cover.

It was still leaking after all this, but here recently it seems to have stopped.

I did not get a loaner for the 2 1/2 weeks it was in the shop.

That's ridiculous....dealers take their damn time on purpose. They know it's a inconvenience and they drag it out in hopes that you'll think twice about bringing it in again.

this is exactly what i am worried about, it should be a one day job to replace the seal but i know how dealers drag their feet on warranty work ( no offence Parts / Service ).

another problem too is the dealership has moved to the other side of town, making it a huge commute just to take it in but there is a Chrysler dealership right around the corner from my yard ( the dodge dealership was a 10 minute walk from the yard ), i was thinking of trying to take it there but wasn't to sure how they would like working on a vehicle not bought there.

any thoughts?????

You're allowed to bring your truck to any DCX dealer. They may crack a joke about you buying elsewhere but in the end they'll fix yor truck.

Angry ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

finally took it in today, its the torque converter but they don't have one in Canada so it will be another week before they can fix it???????

on the nightmare side of dealerships, the service was great, fast and no messing about but....... one ding in the door pillar, door edge and two or three new scrapes. i hand wash my truck because i don't trust car washes and i intimately know every little scape and scratch on the truck (there are... were very few ) as i did them and see them close up every time i wash the truck.

my plan is to go back to the dealership tomorrow and show them to the manager, its to late to get back today. i don't expect them to do anything but i am going to tell him i want them to do an inspection when drop it off next time, and any more damage is unacceptable.

this is why i like to do all the work myself, i actually give a S**T about my truck.
