the same reason someone would say lifting a 2wd truck is stupid. being a jerk. i don't know about standing starts, but the z71 that wanted to play on the highway today found out that if i put it in tow/haul and punch it, he gets left behind...we took off at sixty and by ninety he was in my rear view.

Please recommend a method for testing the effects of a performance mod other than doing timed runs (with the exception of using a dyno which I already said I don't have access too). Instead of talking negatively about the method I and many other use to test the effects of the mods we do, why don't you offer something constructive like telling us the method you use to test the gains you get from performance mods.

Tow/Haul mode changes the 2-3,3-4 shift points at part throttle to keep the engine from lugging and locks out OD. It also will downshift if going downhill and gaining speed without pushing the gas to help slow the vehicle and save the brakes.

At WOT, it will shift at the same rpm in any mode. Mine shifts @ 5600 when wide open.

Here is something you can pick up that will help your testing.....

Turning the tow/haul mode doesn't change anything when your foot is to the floor. It helps shift at a higher rpm when your cruisig so you don't bog up a hill while your towing a trailer. Tow/haul mode doesn't not use gears or generate more or less tq in any rpm range as someone else said.
If your fott is to the floor, o/d off, tow/haul on or not pushing any buttons will yield the same exact 0-60 and 1/4mi times! I guaran-friggin-T it. Your not going to be in overdrive when your foot isa mashed crossing the 1/4mile mark. Tow haul only raises/changes shift points at cruising speeds and kicks down a gear when you brake. Nothing else.

If you want 0-60 or 1/4mile times, you should think about buying an SRT or a sports car! 5,000lb + beasts aren't meant to be drag raced. When you own a truck that stuff should be in the past. Sure I like to pound on the gas getting on the highway every once in a while but 0-60 in a truck, especially a 4x4 is for children.

I disagree. Here is a $5k upgrade that will decimate any stock SRT AND most sports cars.
I wish Dodge would offer this to us. Oh, and it's also covered by the factory warranty.

im looking to get a gtech performance meter just so i can see what my 0-60 time, 1/8 mile, and 1/4 mile times. as far as why you would want to see what a 6000 pound truck could do, the same reason you would want to se what a 3000 pound ricer would do. some people have the need for speed. and others have the need to haul and tow stuff. yet others have both needs and that is why i bought my Ram. so i could do both. if its not your game to go fast then dont stay in the slow lane and dont judge.

STS performance offers a turbo for the RAM it mounts on the exhaust not the engine, they claim 45%-50% hp increase. not sure exacly I have noth looked into it much>
