it is worth asking the questions:

what rpm should my engine be at when it hits 60 mph?

should the trans shift once during the run, or twice?

how much does the torque converter slip?

how much gear ratio does a slipping torque converter provide?

to get to 60 mph as fast as possible shouldn't I be able to launch at 4200 rpm full throttle where the torque maximum is?

why can't I launch at 4200 rpm without severe wheel hop?
(hint: why does the SRT10 have modified rear springs and why does the 2009 Ram have rear coils and links?)

since I can't launch with full torque at 4200 rpm,
does having more differential ratio do anything except break the tire rubber grip loose?

The torque converter won't stall to 4200 so it will not launch at 4200.

the torque converter will drop to its stall speed (if the tire holds traction)
but you can still launch at any rpm
with either auto trans or manual

hank L i can answer about the severe wheel hop question thats easy the srt-10 had the moded rear suspension so it could better handle the 525 ib/fts y have a 500hp truck if u can't use it at all and the new 09 rams have coilovers because dodge wanted to be different since trucks r a dying breed and a better ride also get people who would not normaly get a truck
