I have a 2008 quad 1500 Laramie with a 5.7 Hemi and i'm getting 15 - 16 in the city if I drive right and about 18.5 going 70 on a trip.

How would I know the gearing that I have on my truck?

If it has 20" wheels, it more than likely has 3.92's. Mine says so on the window sticker.
It is rated @ 13 city/19hwy.

My '06 QC has the 5.7, I average 16.6, but I drive 75% city 25% Highway. Everytime I get on the freeway, I see the average go up.
You can keep the 15mpg difference between the Ram and my old Oldsmobile, I've never been happier driving a truck.

I am getting about 14.5 with mostly in town driving. I haven't had it on the highway for a long trip in awhile. The last time it had about 800 miles on it with 4 good sized adults and some gear in the bed, traveling about 80-85 it got 18.1mpg.

does anyone know if the red line is 5800.
afraid i have hit that a few times
i dont understand how people dont hit 2000rpms without causing a traffic jam, either that or they have NO hills by them. i mean i drive really easy but in the same breath i dont think ive ever hit 3000 rpm. where i live i cant even think of getting up some of the hills around here without hitting 2000-2500rpms. and i cant imagine hitting 5800 is very good. although im getting regualr gas now for 2.43 so i dont mind stepping into it alittle more.

Wow 2.43 I feel lucky...we are down to 2.09 today for 89 octane w/10% ethanol. My 360 gets around 9 mpg pulling my 30' travel trailer and 13-16 highway empty...at $2.09 and dropping I'll drive it a bit more and not feel too bad. I didn't buy for mileage though and you Hemi guys probably wouldn't tell me I have as much HP as you. Oh well I like the truck and the family fits...for now.

Anyway, I get around 17.5 in town. On a recent evacuation trip from Hurricane Ike, I averaged almost 21 on the highway. I have the 5-speed automatic and the 3.21 rear end. At 70mph, I am barely turning 1500 rpms.

And now that gas is back around $2.35 per gallon, I may start putting my foot in it a little more!! LOL
Actually, diesels get better mileage because diesel fuel has more energy per ounce/pound/gallon (pick your flavor of measurement) than gasoline does. A turbo will help power output, a little, even if you don't turn up the fuel delivery.

my 4.7 gets about 12-13 puttering around town. I got between 18.3 and 18.8 driving from Ok city to Ogden UT, and I get 21 on the highway @ 65mph. Above 65 it drops like a rock. Anyway, I still ain't gettin' rid of my truck.
