Default warranty question

Tried the search and could not find an answer so sorry if this has been raised before. Thinking about buying an 07 1500. Is the life time drivetrain warranty transferable? Ok, looked again and saw that it is not transferable. Seems silly to me to have such a warranty and not be able to transfer it.

thanks for the help

phil

Life time is not transferrable. The only thing you will get is the remainder, if any, of the 3/36.

The whole idea behind the warranty was to try to sell more new vehicles. If they make it non-transferable, they make their new vehicles even more appealing than any used one out there.

If the lifetime warranty was transferable, that means that 20 years from now and 5 owners later, your truck would still have a free powertrain warranty. No automotive company in the world would be able to shoulder those kinds of warranty costs on millions of vehicles.

The program was developed to sell vehicles. 80% of vehicles are traded within 5 years so it only benefits people who keep a vehicle until the tires fall off. I think of it as a nice reward for buying from a company with an extremely poor resale value.

Can you imagine the guy who buys it new, keeps in 20 years and comes into a Dodge dealer wanting a new engine.... Would love to see that.

Mine too, I guess they are betting that the body will fall off before the powertrain fails

I suppose that's everyone's plan, but we all know that bigger and better things come out each year. In 5years time our trucks will be dinosaurs and we'll want to upgrade. It's the American way!
Also, there's nothing in the warranty that states you need body panels to get drivetrain warranty coverage!
