i figure i could do the body work myself, then just have a muffler shop match up the tubing. anyone advise against this? if i do myself, after cutting a hole in the body, should i treat the raw metal with just that rust preventative stuff, or should i use touch-up paint to prevent rust? i know the rust stuff says reapply every 6 months to a year, however, that would appear to be pretty impractical. thoughts? thanks!!

I wouldnt have the ball$ to cut any metal on my truck, let alone a 4 inch hole in my side panel.
Do what you wish, but for the price of that cutout, and the stress of making the cut, I dont see the benefits outweighing the costs.

i say go for it lbs laramie. my brother did it to his blazer when we were back in high school and it was freakin awsome. except we didn't have the exhaust port that would bolt to the body. he simply cut a hole for a 3" tip and had the exhaust shop bend all the piping for it to go thru the hole in the body. it got alot of stairs and complements plus the blazer was lowered out so it also helped with clearance issues.
I think that would be a bad idea.you have to realise that the body and the exhaust have to move around indepeditly.Granted its not alot .but after years of vibrating around your bound to break something.IE the exhaust brackets or even crack or bend the part of the body panel that the exhaust goes thru.I just couldn't do it because knowing me i'd be checking it everytime i went to go drive. It would drive me nuts

You would be made fun of if you put stacks in and it not being a CTD, don't do it.
Gay. It's a lowrider cornball idea. You need to think about who will buy your truck when you sell it or even trade it in with stuff like that done to it. It will devalue considerably.
Next, the smoke and carbon coming out of that will go directly to your paint staining it and probably bubbling it because of the temperature. Just make your life easy and buy a normal persons exhaust. It's easier and only a few more dollars than what that tip costs all by itslef...lol Also, that looks flat not curved like the bottom of our trucks are. It wouldn't even sit flush.
