Mopar is what I use, never ever had issues with Fram products.

Aside from the performance type of filters, your baisc oil filter is made by one or two companys anyways.

I have used Fram filters on all of my vehicles nad have never had a problem. I guess you just have to make sure the old O-ring comes off with the old filter.

I always wipe off the fiting face before I install a new filter. I have only come across 1 time where the seal stuck to the engine. I was working a Jiffy lube for 2yrs. Only 1 time after Lots and lots of oil changes. And yes, it was a Fram filter that did that.
I do know that about a 8 or 9 months ago, Wix had a recall on some filters. The Napa line I believe. Something about the valve failure?

I worked for a mechanic shop for awhile and you wouldnt believe the hundreds of people come in complaining about an oil leak and it turns out that they changed their own oil and didnt look at the old filter to see if the rubber ring came off with it.

Amazing. They just don't realize how much damage they can do just by changin the oil! I can tell right away when the oil filter only spins 1 revolution, you know there's a problem. That sucker should be like a merry-go-round for 4 or 5 turns before the gasket touches it's mating surface.

Also, there might not have been a recall, but there was definately a consumer complaint about the Napa line oil filters last year or the very beginning of this year. I believe they pulled them off the shelves and had them replaced asap!

Ive been using wix filters on my truck. Btw, the filters on the 04's are a PAIN to get off. I might think about getting a different brand for my next change.

Your right its just awkward laying under the truck trying to unscrew it with one hand, especially with that bar right underneath. the first time i did it i unscrewed it and my hands where all slippery and it fell and landed upright on that bar...needless to say i was relieved...lesson learned.
