So am I the only one pissed off...
about how much I paid for my truck a year ago! My husband takes much glee in pointing out how Dodges to not hold resale value (he has a Ford). I used to ignore him and drown out his laughter buy revving my engine but now my truck is back in Canada and I am on the net looking at my truck that is for sale now:

This is just one example, and mine is not even a 4X4 which everyone told me not to get. I sure wish I could predict the economy!!

Yeah, no doubt it's a buyers market, but only if you have cash, forget it if you need your trade for a down payment.
I saw a new '08 Dodge 2500 CTD 4x4 on my local dealers lot with a sticker of $47,800 marked down to $32,995 on the window. For the hell of it, I stopped in with my '04 Hemi 4x4 with about $8k in mods. KBB avg. trade is about $12,800 bone stock and the dealer wouldn't even give me within $5k of that even with all my mods. Needless to say, I'll be keeping my '04 with only 39k miles on it for quite some time...

They wouldn't give any money because the only way to make money is on the sale of used vehicle. It's sad that the dealerships are the one's that really control how much used car values are worth. They have made the used cars to where they have depreciated so much it's not hardly worth buying new anymore. It used to be that new was the way to go and they made alot of money selling new. Now they just reach their minimum goal so they can keep their franchise alive.
Used car sales and service is what keeps most dealerships alive these days.
Also, My 2008 Ram QuadCab 4x4 5.7L hemi Bighorn editon with the 20" wheels, Tow package, heated mirrors, rear slider, two-tone paint cost me $31890 back in March 2008. I just clicked 2100miles and I bet it's only worth half that on trade. That's why I did the 27month lease for near 0% finance rate and when the lease is ready to expire I am gonna call them up and I bet I will get another $2k knocked off the price when I buy it outright which most people don't know you can do! The last thing they want is to take the truck back. They have gap insurance on all vehicles themselves so whatever money the lose, they just file a claim and get that money back anyways.

ya, was planning on selling the daytona cause I just got laid off. I only bought it in march for 20k and I'd be lucky to get 10 for it now.... I cant afford to sell it and cant afford to keep it.... I love this economy
The price you showed on ebay is about what megacabs have been going for for a long time that I have noticed. I have seen many brand new 2500 diesel quad cab 4x4's going for 30k and 31k for the last several months.
I am not dissapointed in what I paid for my truck. I bought it new in March with 7 miles on it. It is an 08 QC Hemi Bighorn 2WD. The sticker was $34,900 and I got it for $22,500. Even now they are going for 20-21k so I do not feel too bad about what I paid.
Just for grins I blue booked it the other day to see how much it has declined. I have 9987 miles on it now. Trade in value to a dealer is 17k in excellent condition, 16k for good condition and 15k for fair condition. Dealer resale value is 21k. Private party sale value is 19k. The dealer trade in value is worthless though, dealers use the black book or offer the auction price which can be 20% less than fair condition price. The fact that my truck is worth LESS than 50% of the sticker price after only 8 months is what pisses me off. I do not even want to think about what it will be worth in 4 years when it is paid off.
Even more depressing is I saw a for sale by owner 05 quadcab Hemi 4x4 parked on the side of the road with $6500 as the asking price. A beautiful looking truck. It sat there for well over a month and just disapeared in the last few days.

Mine is close to yours, no two-tone, and 2wd but extra chrome clad wheels $405, white letter tires $100, Adjustable pedals $120, Bug shield $100, U-connect $325, Anti-spin $325, cloth 40/20/40 PREMIUM bench seat (whatever that means) $455, and tow package $405 The truck stickered for $35,090
I gave 26K for it out the door with free factory tube steps and a spray-in bed liner.
They also gave me a bit more for my trade than it was worth. They gave me $10,900 for a 2001 F150 4x4. Trade in was about $8,900 back then about $7,090 now.
The facts are high flue prices drove every one to panic and to dump thier trucks.
New trucks are over priced as is, but wait a while and they allways go down in price.
Right now is not a good time to buy any big ticket item, no one is buying on the pretense it will be cheaper three weeks from now, no one can afford to buy in three weeks anyways, thiers a credit chrunch going on, all the subprime issues are from people borrowing on thier credit, than thier debit is more than their asset's.
So my and your trucks and cars have no vaule to anyone except you and me, The only time it makes sense to buy brand new is if your going to keep your truck for more than five years and you have the ability to pay it off.
The greater pain in the *** is tax payers in Canada and the U.S.A are going to be buying out the big three threw tax breaks and kiss *** politics created by the unions, and you still will not be able to go buy a new domostic car even thow your paying for the prouduct twice over.
As for what brand has the higher resale vaule, its all in the buyers eye's, not the sellers.
Bottom line is enjoy your truck, don't abuse it and if you want a new one, shut up and pay for it.

I bought mine to keep for a very long time, so I don't care about resale value. I looked it up anyway, trade-in value is a little more than I owe at around $17,700.
