I got my truck back today. What a difference, it's like a new truck now. They showed me the parts that were screwed. There were about 6 clutches that were burned badly. And there is this valve on the pump body that stoppeds the torque convertor from draining. i guess it was screwed up as well.

clutches cannot be looked at to see if they are bad for the average guy. Usually they are measured for thickness. I hope they were indeed your clutch packs they showed you and not some that have been laying around. I believe the valve was bad, but when did you drop it off to be serviced? They fixed your truck in less than a day????? Sounds like only a valve was bad to me!

It only takes a few hours to rebuilt a transmission once it's sitting on the work bench. I've seen transmissions rebuilt before from start to finish. It's very true that they don't use half the new parts in the rebuild kit, such as the friction rings and valves. They can tell just by looking at them and tell if they are bad or not. They only replace what's bad. They save the extra parts and sooner or later they have a free rebuild kit they use and charge someone for. It doesn't make any sense to me just not to just replace everything, it all about saving time and money for themselves.
