Muffler Swap and Y Pipe

I am planning on removing the stock tin can muffler on my 04 1500 Hemi. I am going to replace it with a Cherry Bomb Extreme
, please no arguments. I have made up my mind and there are plenty of other places to argue mufflers. I was also planning on removing the rear resonator. My truck has the dual cat to a Y-pipe which inserts into the muffler then goes back to the resonator. Maybe I will get some pictures up this afternoon.
My question is:
Should I replace the stock exhaust Y pipe just before the muffler to get more flow? Or is it good enough. I only need to replace it if it yields more performance/gas as it requires more welding/fab at the shop. The truck already has 3" piping all through the exhaust starting at the cats if I am not mistaken, so it should flow pretty decent as is. Also, sticking with a 3" SI/SO muffler. I prefer the look of one exiting the rear.
