Sorry... F150 or Ram 1500
with a few mods you can easily hit 14. I understand that you shouldn't have to do mods to hit 14, but your ram is a great truck (at least for me) and it was worth investing a few hundred dollars now and then.
The only thing, what mods do I need? I have:
K&N CAI
4.56 gears, and limited slip rear-end
Flowmaster 70 series big block (will replace that with something louder)
I put in 5w20 oil today, and it seems to run smoother, but not better mpgs over the 15w40 that used to be in it (which I really didn't want to put in, and never will again)

since you have 4:56 gears, you already should know will lose 1-2MPG highway and gain 1-2MPG city so if you do mostly highway that helps explain you MPG! But if you want 20+MPG then I would suggest a Hybrid!

Having owned Chevy's, Ford's, and now a Dodge, I can tell you I am very happy with my Dodge. I owned 4 different Ford's and had many problems with the exhaust manifold gaskets leaking. The Chevy's were gutless. This is my first Dodge and I could not be happier. Great power, cool looks, solid build, and got a great deal. I haul a 2400 pound camper and pull a 3500 pound boat no problem. Hardly makes the Hemi work!
I am not sure about the 4.7, but the 5.7 requires 5W20! You might want to try switching to Royal Purple or Mobil 1 Full Synthetic. It might cost more but you will be able to go a lot longer between oil changes!! I would also suggest a Programmer I have the Superchips 3815 and have no complaints! I tried the Hypertech, but noticed no gains and it would not adjust the speedo for the 5.7! But I did notice a slight MPG increase with Superchips!
My next oil change, it will be Mobil 1, and in the good stuff. At Advance Auto, they had a little selection, and so I just went with Valvoline in my truck. I wish they had RP there in 5w20, but they only have 10w30, and just one little slider deal of it. Yea, I know that the truck requires 5w20 in it, and so do the 4.7s, or at least my uncle's Durango does. But my uncle doesn't believe in all of the "requireds" on a vehicle, and he told me that what we put in was more than fine. I changed because it's cold, and I don't want that stuff in my truck. I'm thinking about doing a Superchip in my Dodge. And no, I'm not wanting a Hybrid, or 20 mpg. The only thing is the my grandpa has a 2005 Dodge, and he gets over 15 mpg bone stock. So my uncle (who paid for my fuel for the most part) thought that it's my driving habits that get me my horrible fuel mileage.
Also, I'll definitely agree that we've got more pulling power than the 5.3. And like my truck, whenever I take off on a sand road, I just spin my tires for a good little ways.
