Do you guys/gals prefer auto/manual?
Just asking. I think personally I love the freedom of a vehicle that I get to control the gears in.
I've always felt comfortable in manuals and have always felt some smaller amount of safety in automatics.

Manual any day but couldn't get my truck in manual. Auto can be more comfortable in high traffic situations with big vehicles that use big engines and transmissions though. Manuals are alot better on gas as well!
Auto. I have had my fair share of manual trannies and prefer auto at this point. There was a time that I liked manuals but they are just a PIA after a while. You cannot eat a burger and drive with ease. You cannot talk on the phone and drive with ease. Taking off in snow o on ice is easier with an auto as the manual tends to spin much easier.
A truck is soooooo much more of a PIA because the shifter has to be thrown about a foot in each direction.
Auto's are so much smoother regardless of how good you are with a manaul and you can relax with an auto.
Manuals are good for 2 things. Towing very heavy loads and offroading. For the average driver I would say auto is the way to go. You also have to think about a clutch replacement after 100kmi or sooner if your rough on it.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me you were joking about having a burger or talking on a phone as an argument for having an auto! Take it from someone who has been knocked off bikes twice (Once badly injured) by PR**KS on cell phones. If that is the extent of your argument you really shouldn't have a license!
If you were joking it was a damn funny one! I just hope it was the latter.
