Default Oil Problem

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram with the V6 with about 30K on it. My oil change light comes on 2000 miles after I change the oil. If I wait until 3000 miles, the oil is very black and dirty, little flakes of something in it. I have been putting regular oil in the truck, do you have to use synthetic oil in these engines? What else could be causing this problem?
Any help is greatly appreciated, I love the truck, but I'm afraid the engine isn't going to last, unless I can figure this out.

Are you doing the changes yourself?

Try a 1/2 can of seafoam for a couple of days then do an oil change with a good synthetic oil and filter, then keep an eye on it to see if the problem continues.

A while back, there was an issue with oil sludge, mostly in the 4.7. If you have been changing the oil at 3000 miles, something is not right. Get it corrected before your warranty runs out.

When you say regular oil. Are you talking a name brand, or the stuff for 59 cents at the gas station?

I have 30K miles on the truck. I have been taking the truck in to get the oil changed at the local quicky place. They keep saying this engine is no good. Never buy a truck with this engine, they tell me. I am not 100% sure what brand of oil they are actually putting in the truck, bc I am not the one under the hood putting it in.
Good news is, this is a lease truck, bad news, I really like the truck and wanted to buy at the end of the lease. I have to decide to really look into this problem by taking it to the dealer while its under warranty, or save my money and just buy something else when my lease is up next year.

I would take it to the dealer and have them look at it and change the oil. Tell them what is going on and see what they say.
