Default worse MPG with new EGR

a while ago my CEL came on, pulled the code and it was the EGR. before i replaced it i was getting 10.2-10.8 city only with the overhead calculator. it ran rough and would stall out. i changed it, CEL went away after i cleared it and it runs smooth but now it get anywhere from 9.3-9.7. i have yet to manually calculate it since i replaced it but when i did with the bad EGR it was within a few tenths from what the overhead was reading. its a 2005 5.7 hemi bone stock with 40k miles. any ideas?

You should reset the pcm. Pull fuse #23 get into truck, turn key to the start position after a few seconds you will hear a chime that means the pcm is reset, replace fuse and your are done. That should help also it could be winter gas.

You should do that anytime you do a mod that would affect the drivetrain and that includes maintenance. The pcm would eventually relearn that you changed the egr but it takes time.
