alright is there a way to do a cold air without removing the stoxk air boxs i was thinking and what if you just took off the top to help with air flow and removed the hemio hat that way you get rid of a lot of restriction yet still have some protection for high water and those days at the mud hole???

Hammer is right...Cai helps..but with the right combo, really helps performance (thus mpg's as well)...find one that bypasses the hemi hat (that robs performance)..

Yeah, there are a couple of kits that utilize the stock air box get rid of the filter, tube and that super restrictive baffle that sits right in front of the throttle body. True Flow comes to mind, but there are others...

It is a mod that really comes to life in concert with other mods that perform better with added airflow, such as headers. Higher end engine work also requires a CAI, header, exhaust restructuring such as a cam, heads, etc.
If you are not planning on at least a total overhaul of the exhaust system (and I don't mean just a muffler or cat-back) then it'll be just as good and a lot cheaper to go with just a better performing drop in filter.
This is correct. I was looking at an AutoAnything add today that showed the K&N kits across the bottom. HP gain for the 2008 Hemi??? 8hp. Not worth the money. Use the stock box and a Airaid MIT pipe to eliminate the Hemi hat.

My efan is one of the better mods I've done & I totally recommend one, but if you buy into 4-5 mpg you live in a fantasy world. Maybe 1.5 mpg is about right, but it frees up some pretty good HP as well...

This is okay if you are out of factory warranty, but for anyone who has a lifetime powertrain can forget about this mod because I promise that it will void any warranty on your engine. They will say that it wasn't cooling the engine properly and play those games. Another helper would be an electric waterpump. I put an electric water pump on my Mustang and t was almost $400, but that car was strickly a runner and I wanted every bit possible out of it. I did add 22rwhp with it on that car, however it was highly modified and I would only expect maybe 5-10rwhp on a normal vehicle.

So anything that will change or alter your engine's cooling you can count on them not warranting the work. Items like Underdrive pullies and electric waterpumps can be had for every excuse in the book. Those 2 items stay away from. I also would stay away from any open box CAI.

All that said, Headers are the best way to go to get mild power gains and better fuel economy. They can try to say it will void, but there is nothing that headers can possibly do to hurt your engine in any way what so ever. JBA is the best company out there for direct fitment quality. Very $$$$ though, but they will be the last header you touch for you vehicle

I have it from an excellent source (golfing buddy whose a dealership service mgr) that with the financial troubles Chrysler is going through, they are denying EVERY claim that can even remotely be questioned. Unless your truck is bone stock and you've gone to a Chrysler dealer for all maintenance work exactly on schedule, prepare for a fight on major warranty claims anyway.
You have a choice to make, make the vehicle the way you want it and chance the warranty or live with it bone stock (or damn close to it). Neither is right or wrong, just your personal choice...

Sons-a-biches. You could only expect crappy behavior from them for times like this.
