If I take mine in, I am definitely taking my cold air off and putting the stock air box back in. No need in causing any BS from the dealership...Do my Hellas void the warranty? LOL

im going to install my K&N today. i got it because it will probably be the biggest mod i do (if i dont get new gears). but i got it for the sound improvement and hopefully 1 or 2 mpgs. not really looking for more HP but hopefully alittle better response on the peddle. i think there is a common misconseption that cai's are the solver of mpgs and hp problems.

That's how it starts and the next thing your modding like crazy...hehehehehehe

Exactly. The solution for both of those is strap on a Supercharger!A supercharger when driven under normal conditions will yield much better gas mileage than the same naturally aspirated engine while still allowing the same HP. It's only when your a lead foot and get the HP above what the engine is already capable of where you start losing MPG's.

They are not trying to get out of warranty work because it does not pay much, they are protecting their business. If you have warranty work done and Dodge decides not to pay the bill, the dealer collects no money for the repair. The customer is not going to want to pay for it, so the dealer is out that money. Also Dodge can pay the bill at first and come back later and charge back the repair to the dealer.

Headers are considered performance modifications and installing them can effect your warranty.

Read your warranty manual for more info....

3. What's Not Covered
3.1 Modifications Not Covered

But your warranties don’t cover any part that was not on your truck when it left the manufacturing plant or is not certified for use on your truck. Nor do they cover the costs of any repairs or adjustments that might be caused or needed because of the installation or use of non-DaimlerChrysler parts, components, equipment, materials, or additives.
Performance or racing parts are considered to be non-DaimlerChrysler parts. Repairs or adjustments caused by their use are not covered under your warranties.

Examples of the types of alterations not covered are:
• installing accessories — except for genuine DaimlerChrysler / MOPAR accessories installed by an authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer

3.6 Other Exclusions
Your warranties don’t cover the costs of repairing damage or conditions caused by any of the following:
• tampering with the emission systems, or with a part that could affect the emission systems

Owner's Warranty Responsibilities:
-- As the truck owner, you should also be aware that DaimlerChrysler may deny your warranty coverage if your truck or a part has failed due to abuse, neglect, improper maintenance or unapproved modifications.

C. Tampering with Noise Control System Prohibited
Federal law prohibits the following acts or the causing thereof:
• the removal or rendering inoperative by any person, other than for purposes of maintenance, repair, or replacement, of any device or element of design incorporated into any new vehicle for the purpose of noise control prior to its sale or delivery to the ultimate purchaser or while it is in use; or
• the use of the vehicle after such device or element of design has been removed or rendered inoperative by any person.

Among those acts presumed to constitute tampering are the acts listed below:
AIR CLEANER
• removal of the air cleaner;
• inverting the air cleaner lid; or
• removal of the air ducting.
EXHAUST SYSTEM
• removal or rendering inoperative exhaust system components including the muffler or tailpipe.
ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM
• removal or rendering inoperative the fan clutch; or
• removal of the fan shroud.

The law states that if you modify your vehicle (say a cat back system), the only thing voided from warranty is th parts that were replaced. The Y-pipe/cats, and manifolds would not be effected and still covered. If the cat-back caused another part to fail (highly unlikely), then that part is void of warranty as well.
But I understand that they will try to get out of any questionable repair.
