Exclamation really need some help!!!

i just bought a 05 ram 1500 with the 4.7l a few weeks ago. it is bone stock expect for a straight pipe exhaust. still have the cats and all just removed the muffler and welded a piece of 2 1/2 inch pipe where it was.

today i was driving the truck and pulled into a gas station and as i hit the breaks the truck just cut off on me. and then it did it again about an hour later doin my checks around post..

what could this be???? im at a lose please whatever it is i need to know!!!!!

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you may have a dirty throttlebody or bad TPS sensor.

Yeah, I'm thinking a good TB cleaning and possibly a reset of the TPS would be a good start...

yes it has only done it when comin to a stop. and it only does ever so often. not every time i stop.

how would i reset the TPS?? and no the check engine light is not on....

I don't think it would be your TPS sensor as that has nothing to do with it.

Almost forgot to help you out.... Try cleaning your IAC valve. They get full of carbon build-up and the plunger gets stuck not allowing the t/b to properly breathe.

I know this may sound stupid but how does she die on you.. does it just fade as if you ran out of gas and stall without any hesitation or does the engine idle diffrent from usual as if the engine is trying to stay alive?

couple problems ive heard, only one i can remember is the tcc staying locked when coming to a stop usually caused by a bad trans filter seal but not very common
