Question Why is my 4.7 different?

I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 slt 4wd. My intake manifold is a composite material and i have coil packs on top of the head by the manifold. The radiator overfow is also in a different place than some. My friend has a 2002 dodge ram 1500 slt 4wd with an intake manifold made of some kind of iron or steel(maybe aluminum) spark plugs and wires by the exhaust manifolds and some other components are in different places than mine. Why are these different? I did a lil' research and couldnt find my motor anywhere. Do any of you have this? What ae the specs on mine? What is the difference between the motors besides what ive mentioned?

Sounds like he has the 5.9 and you have the 4.7...I think your engine is rated at 235hp 300tq.

His is definitely not a 4.7. It should have coil packs on the plugs, minus a distributor if it was a 4.7. The 4.7 is also straight down plug ins, where the 5.2/5.9 would be on an angle near the manifolds.

Are you sure he doesn't have a 5.9L Mag? They used them until the Hemi's came out. The 3.7/4.7 have always had coil-on-plug and composite intakes.

His is a 4.7. I went and bought the truck with him. Ive been to the dealer with him when he's had poblems and hey all say its a 4.7. Ive never seen another like it. What motors were available on the 2002 1500 slt 4wd?

If the engine is as you described it's not a 4.7. For 2002 I believe they only had the 3.7, 4.7 and 5.9 gassers for the 1500.
