Swap a 4.7L out for a 6.1L "hemi"
#21
You already have a hemi in yours. That would be ridiclous to do a swap for a 6.1 when the 6.1 is only a bored, baby cammed with some headwork 5.7....putting it simply. Bore/stroke yours, little head work and toss a fat cam in there...BAM you got yourself a 6.1 eater monster.

Heres what you do. Get the 6.1, either buy the parts to stroke it or send it to Indy Cylinder Heads. Get 426 stroker, and the other stuff they do to it. Drop in 565hp and never think twice about it! Im assuming you have an auto. If its the 545, get rid of it. Last I knew they simply dont hold power, and because of lack of strength, overdrive is useless. Use any of that power in OD and youll blow it. Ive looked into it, but its been awhile. So Id get a built 48re, use an adapter plate and probably custom TC, and use it. Youd have to figure out the electronics though. Youd still have all gears, and theyll hold up to more than enough power. Diesels make more torque than a gasser ever will and these trannys keep coming back for more. A 1300hp diesel is well over 2000 ft/lbs torque...at the tires.
Actually, forget the 6.1 and drop in a Cummins!!

If you bore it out you will have to replace your pistons and rings, and may as well micropolish your crank and replace you rod and main bearings making it a zero mileage bottom end...
