You're probably gonna have a stiffer ride on the 20's since the sidewalls are shorter. Check out tirerack.com for some side-by-side reviews, a lot of times they review ride quality as well as traction.
If someone cranked up the torsion bars prior to you owning that truck, you may try backing out the bolts a few turns to soften the front ride a bit.

You can't go wrong with the Cooper Zeons for a street tire. I'm running Falken Ziex STZ01s on my stock 20s, they are a total street tire, but they are amazing. I've put 22k miles on mine and they look new, hardly any wear at all, and I do a lot of highway cruising. They are excellent in the rain too, like night and day over the stock tires.

I bought the Pro Comp All Terrains, we just had a whack load of snow that lasted almost 4 weeks. These tires did not let me down. They are pretty quiet....just a little louder than the stock Goodyears but handle way better all round. well worth the extra noise. I tried to get the Coopers but they weren't available.
