Default 28mpg with computer reprogram?

Tell me this is real.

My '07 with 32,000 miles had an intermittent check engine light that I took in for warranty work over the holidays. The Dodge shop said it had to reprogram the computer with an upgrade to clear the code which had to do something with low oil pressure even though there was no "low oil" pressure. They mentioned also my air filter needed cleaning.

Drove it for a week around town while on vacation, MIL light stayed off, then decided to clean my K&N Filter this past weekend. Cleaned and recharged the filter. Gassed up this morning, reset my trip counter and avg mpg gauge and drove the 40 miles to work and the trip computer registered a whopping 28.1mpg after 30 miles of flat hwy driving on cruise at 65mph drafting a semi truck and no wind!!! WTF? Normally I can get up to 21-22mpg driving this style. Even after driving the last 10 miles in stop and go traffic, school zone, and pay tolls, I ended up at 25.5mpg!

OK, so did they put the wrong program in my truck, that is calculating mpg wrong, like gas tank size or something, or am I really getting a 5mpg boost due to the reprogram and filter cleaning?

Every one missed the obvious. You drafted a semi truck and he pulled you along with the vacumn behind his truck.

That over head is usually about right but i'm sure I could get 100mpg down hill in neutral. Just wait till empty and manually calculate.

I will calculate for sure, but it is usually pretty close to within .5pmg. I've got to assume they put the wrong program in, no way I get this mileage now.

I have a 4.7 and I get 22-23 MPG at 65MPH on a flat surface with no wind. If you draft a semi real close i heard you rid yourself of 35-45% drag which means alot better fuel economy. They did the test on mythbusters. Just dont catch a rock in your winshield!!!
