Yeah, it's not impossible, by any means. Just difficult and probably more cost prohibitive than just trading in a 1500 for a 2500 gasser...

Yeah, Ce2flaco. The truck is awesome. Look him up or maybe he will chime in on this to give some advice.

This is a noob question but what are the benifits of having a SFA front end vs a IFA does it help towing handling or what little bit tuffer? i dont know and would like to you only use the front for off road most of them time and an IFA in mine does the trick so why upgrade?

Can your truck do this without tipping over?
That's why.
If your not gonna wheel it then leave it alone.

A front D60 will have 8 lugs by the way. Your rear 9.25 has five. Most D44's would be much cheaper as well as some come with 5 lugs.
Your gear ratio is the smallest of concerns for this swap. There are easily 50 other bigger issues to tackle.
Good luck though.

I have no need to do that if i am going to rock crawl then i wil go and by a old beater that i can role all the time and not lose sleep but for applications outside of extreme rock crawling what does a SFA offer to you vs the IFA and that is a nice truck but how many people do you know that have a vehicle modified to that extent not that many

You asked...i answered. It could be that i misunderstood what you were asking. Your post was hard to follow. To elaborate on what i said, if your fartin around on the farm or driving into town then your set with the stock setup. If you want and or need more offroad performance as well as reliability then a solid front is the way to go. Far more articulation and far more durable with less moving parts.

Different strokes and what not...

Edit to add, mine is not a daily driver. It's a toy to have fun with on the weekends. I would not have done the swap if i had to drive the truck regularly. I can take it out and maybe break it and then fix it when i get time.

SFA gives you more flex on the front. IFA can only handle so much flex before it just begins to tip over. Flex is about it. No towing advantage or anything like that.

Don't forget that the IFS doesn't really like to deal with tires too much larger than 35" without breaking sooner or later. Anyone wanting to throw some substantial rubber (38"+) underneath one of our trucks will want to seriously think about a solid axle swap, or trading it for a 2500...

Seems like a SFA would hold up to turns and braking weight distribution when towing/hauling heavy loads.

BTW, You know If I were gonna do that, One of these trucks would be my last choice, SFA or not. But, Different stroke and all that. That a pretty awesome picture btw.
