Don't get me started, all the advice I've given that SOB, you'd think he'd send me a damn hat! I've wanted one since I was a kid, I know them engineer's get about as many as they want, for nuthin'!!!

wow that is the best looking homebrew cai i have ever seen. if you didnt say you made it youd think it was bought from a cai manufacturer. great job man....
i was thinking we should have a sticky up top for CAIs. have pics of all the different intake installed so peopel can just look at that and choose. this one for sure should be there for homemade, maybe have another sticky with exhausts with maybe a poll and some clips from youtube of the different muffler sounds. if i have time maybe ill make the threads and have peopel add to it and HAMMER can put it up top if all looks good.

I actually have plans for a FAQ sticky, it's in the works. With break downs by categories. I'll be stuck at my mothers for at least a month after her surgery next week and was going to tackle the project then...

, but I am a plumber. You mentioned your old one got extremely hot?? So I hope you didn't use cellular core PVC, because it is not heat rated. Solid Core PVC on the other hand is. That's why when you vent a water heater or some boilers with PVC you have to use the solid core. I have seen people use cellular core PVC on a water heater and it melted. If you did use it then just make sure you look at it once and a while to see if there is any warping. If you notice it then change it immediately. If you did use solid core then your good to go.

The old did not get extremely hot at all. You could still touch it for sure. It was a little warmer obviously nearer the throttle body which is over the engine.
I just figured the aluminum might retain heat longer. I also wanted it a bit longer so the air filter could be further down in line with the jet stream air scoop. That was my main reasoning. The filter was not really located in an area where there was a lot of fresh cool air. If you look at the pics you can see in the first shot that it was a little short. Now it sits almost right behind the light and right in line with the scoop. The PVC I bought was the thick walled 3" ID from Home Depot.
