Re-did the CAI
The scoop looks like a great idea feeding fresh air to the filter, but it seems like it would get a lot of direct water when driving in the rain... do you notice a difference when it is raining out or no?
Man, I was super excited about my homemade setup I just did. Not anymore, I wanna copy yours now!
I would've def gone the same route you did, with the cone filter, but I got a drop-in for xmas, so I just went with the 4" box-to-tb tube.
Nothing wrong with being a detail freak, I wish that was one of my "pitfalls"

Nitto-
What PVC would you recommend? I've been told that some is cellular and some is not, I just make sure to always glue the end of a cut pipe like an old timer told me to do. I don't remember, does it say on the pipe whether its cellular or solid? (BTW, I'm a GC, not a plumber otherwise I'd know the answer :-) )
Would DWV be the way to go for a homebrew CAI?
Thanks in advance

I just went to The Home Depot and they had these 2' sections of PVC and that worked for me! Not sure of what kind it was etc....I just bought the 3" ID size and was off to the races.

Yes it will say solid core or cellular core on the pipe. The solid core PVC has red writing down the side and the cellular core has black writing. Both are DWV, but the solid core is also heat rated.

yeah that all looks nice but from a performance stand point...say it you drag raced on a daily basis..chrome retains heat more so than a flat black. it has been proven time and time again they even proved it on a dyno on HORSEPOWER TV on spike's power block using a dyno. Either way it is up to the driver....looks or performance....i like the looks but i love the performance!!! I tell my wife the same thing..LOL!!
