Default Torsion Bars

Hey guys, not really good with my knowledge on the torsion bars, can somebody tell me where they are located, I'm looking to give myself a little lift in the front and how do I crank them up?

Thanks

Piece of cake. This is the first illustration I found, but it is the same on your truck.

You'll find the "torsion keys" at the front end of the bars. Under each key is a bolt that is perpendicular to the ground. These are the bolts you crank.

should I use a jack to get the truck off the ground a bit or is that not needed? BTW can you repost that image Hammer? I tried refreshing the page a bunch of times but for some reason it doesn't want to show up.

Thanks

Actually I went and took a look under the truck and I think I found them so I took a pic just to make sure..
I was looking more towards the front wheels I had no idea they were in the middle of the truck

here are some pics of when I changed the keys on mine to lift the front end up to level. Was alot easier than I thought as long as you have the torsion bar tool to crank on the keys with.

Here is the old Key next to the new one.

here is the bolt that you crank in to lift the front end just remeber the more you crank it in the stiffer the front will ride. also make sure you do both sides the same and measure from the bottom of the rim to the bottom of the wheel Well.

You can see the bolt head just sticking out from the cross member that holds the key.

Here she is before the lift

and after the lift

Here is a link to my smugmug pictures af all the work that has been done so far to my truck. http://stuckey.smugmug.com/gallery/4...60945149_enmRs

Yep, those are the ones, and yes unless you got gorilla arms, you are going to want to raise the front enough to get the weight off the tires...

I don't understand, you are only cranking the bolts, right? Why would you need the tool? You only should need the tool if you are replacing the keys!!! And my local Advance has the the tool, rented it when I did the keys on a buddies '02 RCSB 5.9 4x4...
