Default Thermostat Replacement: Afternoon job or Weekend terror?

Hello rammers I have a question for you all. I need to replace the thermostat in my 2003 HEMI ram. It seems to be sticking shut momentarily then releasing and cooling off so the temp. is erratic. Will it be possible for me to rip out to my dad's shop afterschool and throw a new one in or will I need more than a few hours? Has anyone done theirs before if so please let me know how it all went and if there are any tips to streamline the job. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Drain the coolant and remove the upper hose and themostat housing. Clean the old gasket off, reinstall and refill the system making sure to burp the air out. Maybe an hour, tops.

Quick and simple job, I would think that you should be able to knock it out in an hour.

Oh well thats nice to hear. I thought this could be one insolent bitch of a job but I just took a look at the housing and upper hose locaion it shouldnt be too bad and yeah I plan on dropping the coolant and throwing some new stuff in there. For the flush did you guys just run watre through the system a few times or did you do something different?

you ain't gotta drain nothin, put a plastic cup under it to catch the little bit of coolant and pour it back in, if you swap them in the 2 minutes it should take you, you won't half fill the cup...

Well the truck does have 120+ miles on her so I figured a coolant swap might be in order because I am not sure who the previous owner was or what his service habits are like. From what I can tell the truck has been well looked after but whats a few extra bucks for new coolant.
