The truth is finally told!!

Magnaflow outflows Flowmaster 2 to 1 and sounds better too. An added bonus is the stainless steel non-rusting construction!!!

Flowmaster flows about 200CFM
Magnaflow flows about 400CFM.

You do the math.

Well, it seems that the original 40, which is what I have that prompted this thread, is an inch thinner tan he Super 40 or the 50 H.D. And that is what the flowmaster guy said the problem is. The internals are too small and therefore restrictive. But I do really love the sound of the 40. I wouldn't want to switch it unless there would be a serious HP gain and maybe an even deeper growl.

I put the 50HD on bc as you mentioned Flowmaster recommends that muffler for the Hemi. Well I found the sound of 50HD to be way to tame. It sounded barely louder than stock and not deep. So one day I got sick of it and put the Super 40 on and what a difference. The sound was way better, made the truck sound more like a truck. And then when I took it out for a drive I could feel more power with the Super 40 over the 50HD. The moral of the story is stick with the 40, it is a better muffler. The 50HD is the only mod that I can say I 100% regret doing.

i had the 50 on my old truck (02 ram) it sounded fine. its louder than stock, but not stupid loud that you sound like a dumba$$. theres nothing more than a car moving slow and making tons of noise. we all hate it on crappy import cars, what makes a truck any better? sure the sound is better but its just as dumb. i thought the 50 was just fine, and didnt have much interior noise, which the 40s will definitely give you. I'm sure your wives, girlfriends and children love trying to relax or fall asleep and all they here is the truck rumbling everytime you accelerate.

but on a side note, if they said you'll lose power, id assume it would be a similar loss as the gain in putting on an exhaust. i know on my nova going from 2.5" to 3" made a difference, especially with the muffler.

personally im still on the lookout for a muffler that makes just a little more noise than stock, but outflows and wont cost $100. i have the summit turbo mufflers on my nova that were super cheap and great. however it will be too loud for my truck

yeah i have a 4.7l not a hemi i dont think it made much of a difference. i never seen the fm as a performance muffler just a noisemaker. ill admit that. i really want the aero3030 with it dumped after the rear axle, i just hope it as loud as my 40 cause i love the sound just want a straight through muffler. i would get a magnaflow but not the 18/22 inch ones cause those 2 are soo quiet. i noticed they have a 14 inch that i wouldnt mind hearing.

Try a super 44. I have one on my truck and I like how it sounds. And I think it is supposed to be one of their best flowing mufflers. I didn't choose my FM for performance.

There is not a noticeable difference in interior noise between the Super 40 and the 50 HD, at least not that I could tell. The difference is in the exterior noise level.

Side note, my wife and daughter both like the sound of my truck despite what you seem to think they would love.

thats my question. never heard it ona ram before. most gusy have the 18/22. they have a 12 inch too which would be badass but i believe its only in a single in single out but im going that route anyways when i do headers, duals arent really my thing anymore as i want more performance now. what do you mean your daytona has all the piping? im confused on that statement.

i said as there trying to relax, as in fall asleep on trips. im pretty sure no one can stand that. had a friend of mine put his stock exhaust back on after we went on a 6 hour trip and all it was, was constant droning up and down up and down. it was horrible.
