the 1500 megacab has the 2500 chaisis with thinner coils. the 1500mc is still a 1/2 ton truck with a 7500 lb towing capacity. the 2500 is the 3/4 ton with 12000 lb capacity. 2500 being more of a work truck. the trucks are fairly similar inside and out and come with the same standard hemi or optional ctd. the megacabhas a full 20 inchs more interior room over the regular quadcabs too. look on trucktrend.com they do a side by side of the 2. if i were going to get a megacab you mine as well get the 2500, kind of a no brainer.

All versions of Mega Cab are built on the Dodge Ram heavy-duty structure, including the 1500series, so they all share these same chassis components: 353 mm brake rotors with antilock brakes, EVBP (Electronic Variable Brake Proportioning), independent front suspension, longitudinal leaf springs and solid axle for the rear suspension, rack and pinion steering. 4WD models feature a rigid front axle with five-link coil spring suspension and a re-circulating ball steering system.
The 2500 is available with a CTD, but in it's Hemi form, I really don't know why it would have a greater towing capacity than a 1500, given the information above, that I got straight from the Dodge website...

the Mega Cab 1500 can tow a respectable 7750 pounds. If you've got truly big toys to haul, look to the 2500, which can tow up to 12,900 pounds, or the 3500, which can handle trailers weighing up to 15,800 pounds.
thats from truck trend. just trying to get info to help the guy out. the suspension on the 2500 is beefier than the 1500 so it should have a higher payload.

yeah, the way I read it on the Dodge sight is that the components on a 1500 Megacab are the same as a 2500 Megacab. Until you add a CTD to the 2500 anyway. But the 2500 has a higher towing and payload capacity. Why?
