Default Guess its time for new shocks

Was driving home last night night and went through the same intersection I always go through everytime I drive home from work and hit a few small bumps at about 35 (whie accelerating to 45) and it literally felt like my rear tires were bouncing off the pavement when I went through, like they lost traction for a split second about 4 times in a row and each time slammed back to the pavement hard through probably a 10ft section give or take. The truck stayed straight though, didn't swerve out of control or anything. Looked around at everything afterwards and everything looks fine and drives fine, but I can feel every bump in the road now.... Im hoping this is just a shock issue and nothing to serious..

Would it be easier to buy a new set of bilstein shocks and do the install myself or take it somewhere to get checked out and installed?

Shocks are a simple replacement, but it's up to you. Bilstein's are an excellent choice, I'd only buy them or Rancho's, period...

unbolt
bolt on new
drop

A couple of wrenches or a socket set are all you need, take you maybe an hour to do all four.
You can also use allen key if you want a little tip: Stick it in the top of the shock piston if you notice the lock nut just turning with the piston. Trust me, no further explanation needed. If you need it, you'll know right away and see where you can stick it to make the piston stop spinning...

I'll check it out tonight and see if I can get under there to do it, as long as I can get to them with a few jack stands then great I'll do them

Does Bilstein only make the HD's for our trucks? How do they handle? Do they give alot smoother/better ride?

Probably the top rated shock I hear about. Usually rated just a shade better than Rancho's.

Bilstein HD shock part #'s for 4wd Ram 1500

Front: BE5-6928-H0
Rear: BE5-2550-H1

Bilstein HD shock part #'s for 2wd Ram 1500

Front: BE5-6927-H0
Rear:
BE5-2550-H1

I thin you'll need an alignment for changing out the fronts for IFS!
