Default need some help from the sound guys

i just got my truck on monday and im already fed up with the stock sound system btw its a 03 quad cab, well the biggest hurdle is i need something fairly cheap and the 2 closest shops priced me at over 1500 for 2 subs an amp headunit and door speakers plus a box. I don't have that kind of money adn figured me and a couple buddies can do the install and i can hold out on the subs but my question is do i need an amp to run new door speakers? or will the headunit keep up with them?

Thanks
lax

Step one should be gettin a nice head unit. Most aftermarket head units have increased output capabilities without an amp. You should be under 1k with some decent door speakers, a nice headunit, amp and you might even have enough for a sub. Where they're adding in that extra 500 is probably the sub enclosure and install. You should be able to get a decent system for a grand...

these are some good door speakers that im looking at
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...er+KS6930.html
not a bad choice either
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P169...=3&tp=91&avf=N
a good head unit will run you about $130 but for that price, all the installation gear ($50) is free at crutchfield.
i think you also have 3-1/2" speakers in the dash

You may or may not have speakers in the dash. If you have the Infinity upgraded stereo you will. Also, according to Crutchfield my 2008 model will handle 6.5" in the rear doors....check on line with them and it lets you know what size is good. Like Raminator said, they include all of the wiring adaptors, etc. Their prices aren't too bad when you factor all of that in. I bought my first amp from them back in 1988! LOL

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_20607DS...r-07DS600.html
