sadly, Chrysler figured that out and it only works on the '03s. Night and day difference too, adds more response than buying a $350 tuner!!!

is this the same as when your in the middle lane on the highway and you wanna pass someone in front of you so you step on it and the rpms just bog down and you arent moving like you want to, so you hit the gas harder and the rpms finally surge? or is that the second prime gear that everyone complains about????
the rpms won't go down when you hit the gas, but the engine might sound different (especially if you have a catback) when you hit the gas because it increases load. Thats just the programming, the engine doesn't shift until you demand a certain amount of torque by giving it more throttle. The SC helps with that.

You could also hit the gas harder then immediately back off. Fortunately the response is slow enough that you can back off the throttle while it's shifting so you don't 'take off' when it's done shifting. Unfortunately...it's slow for everything else too

gotcha, i tend to be really easy on the gas as it is, i guess i need to learn to stomp it harder.

I think he took me to mean that because it's TBW it just has a delay, which was not what I was saying.

Superchips claims they are currently ditching about 85% of TM. The only current way to completely ditch it would be with a custom tune...
The torque management in these trucks is so severe, it is a real shame that they put so much of it in when they programmed these trucks b/c it really does take away some of the fun of driving our trucks. But, from what I have read it seems like SC may be further reducing the TM in the future which would be very nice.

Dodge designed this throttel "delay" and TM to make our trannys have a longer life. When altering the torque mangement and constantly wailing on the pedal you will blow that tranny up sure as S**T. I do agree though the lag is quite annoying, but hey my truck ain a race car thats why I have an 04 cobra. my truck will get out its own way, and burn just about any other regular truck out there, just need to wait a... second...lol

TM is a lousy band aid to keep the trans together. They cheaped out on the 5 speed auto trans. Instead of making it able to handle the power they use TM to save the trans. I don't have this issue with my 6 speed.
And countryboy, don't you have the manual in your truck too?

I don't see how some of the fun was taken out just because of TM...TM just pulls timing during the actual shift. Sure the gears don't hit as hard but once she's in the gear you get full power. Diablo must have reduced it in their tunes because at WOT my gears hit decently hard and the truck lunges a good amount...now if I could keep that but put part throttle shifts back to stock i'd be a happy camper.

I like my shifts to hit and for the truck to move. To me, losing that is taking some of the fun out of driving it.

I see in your sig that you have the predator 91 tune on your truck. How does it run for you? I have been thinking about getting a DSP but I have been reading a thread on DT where a bunch of guys have had their trans fried by the DSP canned tunes. Even guys like me with 04's where the DSP doesn't have trans control have been having problems.

I don't think any difference between the two handhelds would be worth the money loss or effort in switching...unless you're in need of a custom tune. As far as the tune...I love it! I added some timing down low awhile back and pulled some from the mid range (had some knock) and added fuel last week...she pulls surprising hard for a truck.
