I haven't put an e-fan on my truck yet, but changing out the stock muffler on my truck netted some very noticeable fuel economy gains. For me, it was the difference between 16-17 highway and 19-21 now. Even with stock dual exhaust, it's the mufflers that kill it.

First of all, it's a big *** truck with a boat anchor gas guzzling 5.9. It isn't gonna get much better than 12 around town. Driving habits are the best way to save on gas. Take off the 20s and go w/ the stock 17" size. They are not as wide and won't have as much rolling resistance, plus the whole wheel/tire combo is lighter. Don't run an aggressive tire. Switch to full synthetic lube everywhere. Get a chip that has an economy setting. Get an intake. Shut the truck off if you will be idling for more than 30 seconds. When you see a red light way off in the distance, drop it in neutral and coast. By the time you get to it, it will be green again, and you are still rolling. You won't use as much gas because you don't have to accel from a dead stop. Walk into the fast food joint instead of sitting in the lazy-thru. Lay off the loud pedal... if you can't do this then put a block under it so it won't go all the way down. When you go down a hill w/ the cruise control on, shut it off so the tranny won't downshift, taking it's good sweet time to get back into o/d once you have leveled out. Speaking of piece of **** transmissions, use tow/haul mode until you get up to 50ish MPH. This will keep the transmission from going into o/d at 35, then immediately shifting back into 4th, then immediately back into o/d. If possible, shut the truck off and put it in neutral and coast thru your neighborhood into your driveway every day religiously like I do. It builds upper body strength. Invest in a quality true dual exhaust system with a crossover pipe of some sort. Get a bed cover. Take out all the crap you don't need. Do you really need to haul that back seat around everywhere? I think not... remove it til needed. Better yet, save the big comfy truck for pleasure driving and get a beater nissan pickup to drive daily. 25 mpg with ease.

I am so glad I didn't go with a 5.9L Ram. HEMI is so much more powerful and gets better mileage.
