Question buy or not?

Hey everybody!
alright, so as it stands I have a 96 dakota. I love my baby, but since she's coming up on 200,000 miles on the ticker, and I'm about to graduate college, I'd like to bite the bullet and buy myself a new truck. I've really been thinking about buying an 02-09 ram. I work with someone that owns one and he said he loves it. when I mentioned what I was looking for he told me go 07 and newer because of the flex fuel option. honestly it's something i wouldn't mind having but overall I just want to know some of your comments about the truck. Does anyone have any notable problems that I should know before buying one, or will I be a happy new ram owner? Honestly I can't wait for summer to roll around because I've been dreaming of owning one for a long time. I just want to make sure I'm not going to get myself in to payments on something that's not worth it. Let me know what you guys think!!!
Thanks

Flexfuel option is worthless...i wouldnt waste my $ on that. Overall i love my truck. Ive had 1 bad shock but my dealership was quick to replace it.

+1 on that...

when looking, remember: 4.7 engine doesnt mean better milage... depending on what you wanna do with the truck, is a 2500 worth it? (towing, loaded bed often) the newer the truck, the better mileage it gets (06 and up i believe)

Default improvement

the way i see it, just about anything is an improvement cuz right now i'm drivin a 5.2L v8. it's the magnum engine in the older dakotas. i was honestly thinkin about the 4.7L just cuz i don't ever have to do a lot of big towing. once in a blue moon i tow a 2000lb trailer for my mom but that's it. the main reason i like trucks is because i live north of the mason dixon and east of the mississippi so i see some rough roads come december. i've always felt safer in a truck. as far as gas mileage though, i'm not EXTREMELY concerned because i have a motorcycle for summer months. has anyone had any significantly notable mechanical problems? just being fresh out of college i don't want something that'll nickel and dime me.

Thanks

Without a doubt get the hemi. There is no real difference in mileage between the 4.7 and the hemi. I have just about 15K on my truck now and it sometimes sits in a parking lot for over a week at a time in sub zero temps. NEVER fails to start. So for me, so far so good.

you can get either 4.7 or HEMI cheap right now. If you dont tow, get the 4.7, and use money saved on mods. If you like to get in it every once in a while, get the HEMI. I love my 4.7, but I also bought it cause the price was right. At the time, prices of trucks were still sky high.

4.7 or HEMI? .......HEMI.......... with tow mirrors..haha

how about the 08 4.7, they have a big power increase over previous models, all the way up to over 300 hp with much better fuel economy. would a reg cab manual 4.7 suit your needs?
