aftermarket lsd voids warranty?

Hammer....you are absolutely correct. Would you please be so kind as to call my dealership and tell them how pathetic they are!!
Before I read your post I called Dodge directly and spoke to a very nice lady who answered all my questions. she said just what you stated. Installing a mopar lsd or an aftermarket lsd will not void the warranty at all. She did say if I have a failure with something and it is directly traced back to the lsd I installed the warranty will not cover that, but the problem must be a direct result of the part I installed. She said I should be fine and most dealerships are 'mis-informed' when it comes to warranty information. I think this was her way of saying the dealerships are terrible but please keep buying Dodge!!

So many people rely on their dealers for straight answers and quality service. The dealers charge a premium for it and people don't get it.

Hammer, I hear you on this one. Ive learned a few times on my own. You would almost think that the person telling you was making money on the lies that he sells you. Almost as if, the second you walk out, his boss walks in with cash and hands it to him.

How about a Service Managers point of view. Hammer, if I remember correctly, when you and I first met, we disagreed over this exact topic... The M/M act does protect you to an extent. Installing aftermarket parts do not necessarily void your warranty..If you install a aftermarket LSD and the LSD goes bad, the dealer does not have to fix it. If the LSD goes out and this failure causes damage to other parts, the dealer does not have to fix those parts either. But if you install an LSD and the radio quits working, they should fix the radio..If you install 44 inch tires and the wheel bearings fail, they do not have to warranty the bearings..If you install 44 inch tires and the window quits going up and down, they should fix the window. Each dealer is independent and do not have to warranty anything that they do not want to. The problem is that most service advisers are paid according to how much they sell. So if they can take more money out of your pocket than Dodge's pocket, they are gonna f you if they can...Another problem is there are too many dealers out there trying to f you anyway they can. I will not say that I am mod friendly, I am mod aware. I know what is and what is not within the rules. If you are within the rules I will help you any way I can, if you are not with in the rules I will try to help you but I can not break the rules. I would rather you leave mad knowing that I am a honest guy, than have you think I am dis-honest with you or with Dodge. What I am trying to say is, If I break the rules to help you, you will know that I am not honest with Dodge. And If I am not honest with the people that put food on my table, I probally wouldn't be honest with you...In the 10 years that I have been a manager, I have never voided a warranty..But I have had to show a customer how their mod caused problems and I could not in good faith file a warranty claim... I had a guy put a super charger on his Hemi, and a rod came through the block. Now did the supercharger cause this, maybe/maybe not but should I give this guy a new engine, no. When he installed the forced air induction, he knew this might cause issues with the engine that was not designed to run a super charger..
BTW, Hammer congrats on the admin status...

I agree, and that is the problem with most dealers. If you are not man enough to be honest, run for public office.. If you are just out to f someone, don't look in my direction. If you need to f someone to make a dollar, then don't be mad at me when I show you my negative side... I hate a dis-honest dealer, it makes me have to work harder to EARN trust. It makes me have to work harder to show you that not all service managers are a-holes...

Alright Dave well then here is your challenge:
Give us each a Service Manager that is honest who is close to where we live. There is bound to be at least one per city. This will enable us to go to someone that we can "trust" which should create some sort of positive effect. Word of mouth travels fast and this might help some of the honest ones really stand out.
My city is Houston (North/Spring/The Woodlands/Conroe)
Anyone else want to chime in on this one?
