'08 1500 QC 4x4 Hemi - TRANNY PROBLEM
Not normal at all...at least from what i've experienced with my truck. Sometimes mine will thump going into D but I never have to wait 10 seconds...and when cold I still get 4th but not 5th.
Try not putting it in gear until the rpms fall under 900...it takes less than a minute. How far away is the freeway when you first jump on it...mines about a mile away with a few lights inbetween and haven't had any probs.

See my post above... problem diagnosed and being corrected.
Here's the summary of what they found:
DTC CODES:
- P0868 stored line pressure low
- P0731 pending gear ratio error 1st gear
- P0876 pending UD pressure switch rationality
- B1A25 stored invalid key (this is for the remote entry)
They performed UD pressure switch test, sent to line pressure test, checked all wires for pinch or broken - all OK. Checked line pressure circuit - PASSED. Checked pressure at line pressure sense port with star scan monitor line pressure - pressure in range. Removed pan to inspect for debris - none present.
Removed body, filter, and replaced solenoid assembly. Cleaned and reconditioned valve, replaced both filters, resealed pan, performed quick learn, road test - transmission shifting fine at this time.
That's all I know... besides the fact that they drove the truck off-road and left it muddy (wheels, tires, up and down the sides of the body).

It gets better....
I just got home from work and had time to give the truck a look. In addition to the mud that is all over the sides and underside of my truck, there is also is grease smeared on the outside of my driver-side door above the handle. There is also grease all over my driver-side floor mat. There is also grease on my carpet. There is also grease on the side of my center console. There is also grease on my driver-side door panel. There is also grease on my driver-side step-rail. After seeing all this I raised the hood and found transmission fluid spilled on the wheel well, the hoses near the tranny fill spout, and even on the center piece on top of the engine that says 5.7L HEMI. No effort at all was made to clean any of this up.
I called and talked to the service department. The manager was busy, so I talked to the guy at the desk. After describing what the situation was and expressing my aggravation, he said he'd talk to his manager and call me back. He did and said I had two options: bring it to them on Friday and they'd clean it up, or (2) take it wherever I wanted to have it cleaned and then bring him the bill and he'd reimburse me. I told him I'd have it there Friday morning. I want them to see the mess and then be responsible for getting it out of the carpet. I know it will wipe off everywhere else.
This is really bizarre. I would never have expected them to let that truck out of their shop looking like that. I also intend to find out where they drove the truck in the mud. They put almost 16 miles on it while they had it, which isn't unreasonable to me... but since it has mud everywhere I'm wondering if they might have "put it thru it's paces" while they had it. I'm picturing all kinds of "joy riding" going on....
Oh well... I can't wait to talk to the service manager on Friday morning.

Thats bull****, I hope you give em hell!!!! I am picky with my truck and I make sure they know before anything is done with it I know about, plus I write the mileage down and have them sign by the mileage (maybe a little to ****, but you never know)
just my .02
just my .02
The owners manual says, attempting to put the transmission into any forward gear before RPMs reach idle speed, could damage the transmission. Mine has done it from day one. Dealer said it is normal. I drive the **** out of mine and have almost 53,000 on it in 14 mo. No problems, but it does hesitate going into drive with RPMs above idle.

Thanks - I know this, too. I had not been putting it in gear before the RPMs idled down. There was a defective part in the tranny (that has now been replaced) and it didn't matter how long it warmed up - it still misbehaved.
Well, I don't think God would go for that in a very big way... plus, my church where I'm an associate pastor might frown on that...

when I got the truck home but missed it the first time. Glad you got it taken care of.
