Default Cat Back Exhaust Kits

I have a '05 Ram 1500 and with my birthday coming up I would like to upgrade the exhaust on it. Can anyone suggest a good Cat Back exhaust kit for my truck? With so many exhaust kits out there I figure I would ask to see what you all think are the best. I would prefer stainless and I would like the pipes to come straight out the back.

Thats what I have but you dont need a kit. Just get your muffler and tips off ebay or somewhere local if you want and take it to a shop that you like. I have catback on my 04 5.7 with a SIDO FlowMaster Delta 40 straight back to two 4*22 rolled tips

+1 forget a kit, way overpriced. get a good muffler like cherry bomb and go to a shop and have the pipes bent and hung there, most places if you pay in cash, wont charge sales tax

Sorry for the noobness on this but this would be my first time upgrading an exhaust. Will those ideas offer a performance boost as well? From what I read and heard the exhaust kits offer an additional boost in performance and mpg, not much but a little is better than none. Also, with just a muffler and pipe re-route will I still get that nice deep throaty sound?? I would like to spend as least as possible without sacrificing anything or regretting something later down the road. Thanks for the help!

Did you/are you welding the new muffler and keep the stock pipes? Did you replace the pipes as well?

I'm keeping the stock pipes and having the muffler welded in and a new tip welded on.

I have a gibson muffler with two exits out the back, sounds great, but what cats and headers are you guys running? I would like to upgrade with some nice headers and new high flow cats. Thanks, dont mean to highjack but it saves room.

My truck is running Cherrybomb Vortex catback kit. The sound is awesome. The kit costs $350, and took myself an hour to install. It doesn't cost that much more than having a shop install a muffler, plus I got to keep the factory exhaust intact so that in the future if I got tired of the sound, I can it back.
