Do mods lower dealer trade in value?
I have a dual 40 series flowmaster, AFE CAI, Lights mounted behind the grill, and a new pioneer deck and speakers. Will this stuff lower the mount I get back for a dealer trade in? my tail pipes are not exactly perfect.
well obviously if the exhaust isnt in good shape they will frown upon that,
when i traded in my durango, it had a broken front axle, bald tires, a 5.5" lift, and a keenwood cd player with mtx thunder 6000 component speaker system.
they gave me $4000
i waited till the deal was done with my new truck and told them i had too much money in my stereo system to leave everything in my truck , so i took out all the speakers and head unit. they didnt seem to care too much.
they asked if i had the stock stuff to replace everything with, and i told them nope, it was like this when i bought it.
plus it probably depends on where you take it. i would think it would hurt much if at all.
just get the exhaust fixed

Dealers will use anything to lower what they can get your vehicle for. I've been told that they can't give me sh*t for my truck because if it gets sold to some out of state person, it won't pass emissions, meanwhile, I've got a good $8k in mods on the truck.
As a rule of thumb, don't expect to get anything for your mods, but don't let them d*ck you around and deduct for them either...

The mods wont lower or increase your trade in value. If you still have the stock equipment, my advice for you is to put in all your stock ones and sell the aftermarket ones seperately. You will then be able to get at least some your money back. I have kept all my stock equipment, even my exhaust and plan to replace everything back if I ever decide to sell.
Guess if the mods are very poorly done, it might take off. The only thing that may add would be a nicer audio system, bedliner, etc. Lights and bling won't add much.

The only mods that make much of a difference are ones that are listed @ kbb or nada like bedliners, bed covers, wheels, etc. Most performance stuff is bad, because it makes it look as if the vehicle has been run hard.
I have found that the best thing to do is to replace the stock parts into the truck and sell the mods seperately. You will get more money in the end that way because dealers aren't going to give you anything for the mods anyway.
